Thomas K. Speer PhD, D, ABSM
Dr. Speer has been in the practice of clinical sleep disorders psychology for over 20 years. He believes that each person’s overall well-being is linked to the quality and quantity of his/her 24-hour life style and considers most behavioral problems to be an ongoing pattern requiring persistent and repeated intervention. By assessing many complex factors in each person’s life, including daily stressors, sleep behaviors, medical history, and overall daily life rhythm, he integrates current practices in behavioral health, psychotherapies, and pharmacotherapy into individualized recommendations and treatment plans. He specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for insomnia and other associate sleep problems (OSA) . Dr. Speer is licensed as a psychologist by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists. He is also board certified by the American Board of Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Speer’s undergraduate degree is from The Ohio State University. He served in the USAR as a commissioned officer as an Armor Unit commander. He attended Duke University and received a master’s degree in ethics. He completed his doctoral work in psychology at the University of Toledo. Dr. Speer did his post-doctoral training in Michigan at the Henry Ford Sleep and Research Center and at Stanford University.
